The apparel technical textile coating line gives denim, jacket and footwear fabrics functional and aesthetic properties through coating and lamination. Coating adds, with a polymer layer on the fabric surface, what the fibre cannot give on its own: water repellency, abrasion resistance and a coated look on denim; water- and windproofing on jackets; durability and breathability on footwear. A garment fabric that breathes yet keeps out water and wind usually comes from lamination: outer fabric, membrane and inner lining are joined into one structure.
