Knife coating machine with a chrome-plated back cylinder, doctor and floating knives, independent right and left gap setting and a frequency-inverter AC drive; working width and the other technical requirements are met according to the requirements of the line it will run on.

The COALIS Fabric Coating Machine is the unit at the heart of CEMAY's fabric coating and lamination lines: it applies paste or foam coating with a knife, at an even thickness across the width of the fabric. Working width and the other technical requirements are met according to the requirements of the line the machine will run on; installation and commissioning are carried out by CEMAY engineering.

The machine carries two knives: a doctor knife working over the back coating cylinder (knife on roll) and a floating knife working on the tensioned stretch of fabric that no cylinder supports (knife on air). The blade holder is turned by a gear to select the knife and moved back and forth by motors into the best position for either method. The machine can be configured with the knife on air only (single) or with both knife on air and knife on roll (double).

The counter-blade sits on slides and is set by hand-wheels; the knife, the counter-blade and the dams, positioned by hand-wheels to the coating width, together form the hopper for the coating compound. The knife's angle can be adjusted to find the right coating angle.

The coating gap is set separately on the right and the left by two independent AC-driven cam wheels acting on the connecting rods; the values are shown on the touch screen at the centre of the control panel, where a target gap can be entered and gap control switched to automatic. The knife's down force and its bending are controlled by the pressure in the upper and lower air tubes, each with its own gauge and regulator on the panel.

The two pneumatic cylinders of the quick lifting device are linked by a pilot bar, so the blade holder does not tilt as it is raised or lowered and returns to the preset gap. The seam jump lifts the knife for a seam to pass, driven by two eccentrics on pneumatic cylinders, and recovers the preset gap automatically.

The back coating cylinder is made from seamless thick pipe, heat-treated to remove internal stress, thickly chrome-plated and ground. It sits in slots that let it move up and down to suit the knife's profile, and a flexible scraper blade with a catch pan keeps its surface clean. The bow roll in front of it makes the spread fabric meet the cylinder surface fully, its angle set by hand-wheel; before and after the cylinder run three chrome-plated idle rollers, statically and dynamically balanced. The back coating cylinder is connected to a gear motor inside the frame and driven by an AC motor with a frequency inverter.

The electric and pneumatic controls are gathered in a separate box within easy reach of the operator: emergency stop, coating pump, scraper, knife up/down, seam jump, line speed, micro adjustment and the knife's right/left forward-backward travel are run from the panel. An explosion-proof design is possible; the user guide is prepared in Turkish and English.

The machine serves blackout, tarpaulin, lacquering, synthetic leather and conveyor belt coating lines, as well as apparel, outdoor and technical textile coating.
