Carpet Accumulator Unit

The Carpet Accumulator Unit stores the carpet coming from the unwinder and feeds it into the coating line continuously, under control and at constant tension. It acts as a buffer at the line infeed, so the process keeps running through a roll change. Effective accumulation length and the other technical features are designed to the requirements of the system the unit will be used in.

The carpet is stored in vertical strands running between fixed top rollers and the rollers of a moving bottom carriage. The infeed and outfeed geometry lets the carpet travel without creasing and in alignment. All carrying and guide rollers run in rolling bearings with low friction, and their surfaces do not damage the carpet.

The accumulator is the line's main drive and feed point. A drive of AC motor, reducer and frequency inverter (VFD) feeds the carpet forward and pulls it off the unwinder under control, so the unwinder runs passive, without a drive of its own. Line speed is set steplessly and carpet tension is controlled actively through the accumulator. The loop amount is monitored by sensors and the drive is regulated to it automatically. Minimum/maximum level sensors, an emergency stop and mechanical guards for moving parts are standard.

The unit is built on a heavy-duty welded steel frame and integrates with the line automation. Independently quotable.
